A BRIEF OVERVIEW:
Thando is the Zulu word for love. Our Mission is to share the love of Jesus with all people.
Our mission is currently focused on poor communities in and around Durban, South Africa. We are working with the communities to uplift and empower. Mission Thando holds weekly church services, Sunday School, and Bible Studies within the community. We also run youth programs in the community to help guide the youth through Bible Study, mentorship and activities. We get the youth involved
in community projects like our feeding schemes. We provide support for orphans and vulnerable children through food parcels, hygiene items, clothing, and regular home visits. We also assist children with school fees and uniforms. Our goal is to help the children to do well in school and finish their education and at the same time sharing the love of Jesus with each child.
The communities we are working in are also some of the most vulnerable to HIV->AIDS. Many of those we minister to are infected or affected by HIV->AIDS. We are currently offering free HIV testing alongside pre and post test counseling.
David and Krista Meisner and their five children, moved from Canada in 2009 to Durban, South Africa. They served in South Africa for almost 9 years. They raised up local leaders and in 2018 handed the leadership of Mission Thando SA over to local leaders. David and Krista have returned to Canada where they currently planting a church in Kisbey, Sk.. They continue to support Mission Thando SA through Mission Thando Canada Inc. They continue to mentor and work with the SA leaders who are doing a tremendous job to carry on the ministry in SA and expand it's reach.
